Teacher Chronicles: Living a Double Life

The name is … not Bond

You know those secret agents in movies who live double lives? There are times when I feel like that, minus the spy gadgets and (expensive) car chases, or I guess, anything that exciting.

(Don’t ask why I even made this analogy. Sorry Daniel Craig.)

By day, I’m lost in lines of code, deciphering complex data sets to tell compelling stories or looking for trends that can change the course of a business. The buzz you get when your data tells you something nobody’s seen before is unbeatable.

When the sun sets, I swap my data hat for a teaching cap. I’m in the classroom, going back to basics, talking for 3 hours a night, and watching eyes light up when a tricky concept finally clicks.

You might think tech and teaching are worlds apart, but for me, they’re deeply interlinked and equally rewarding.

Why I Found Myself Teaching

I didn’t just trip and fall into the world of teaching; it was a choice, a calling even.

When I had just started learning how to program, and everything seemed so foreign to me, I had two kinds of teachers:

  • teachers who I am convinced make the topics more complicated, and made me want to give up…
